V is for Virtue

For all my LDS chaps out there, you may or may not know that the YW Personal Progress Program has an 8th value now: Virtue. http://www.lds.org/pa/display/0,17884,6884-1,00.html

A copy of the actual insert with the value experiences and project: http://www.lds.org/pa/yw/pdf/YW_2009_PersonalProgressVirtue_08255_eng_.pdf

I've been serving as the secretary in our ward YW presidency for a couple of months and it's been great to learn more about virtue and I wish that we had had that as a value when I was a youth. It fits in so well with the Young Woman program.

So, just when I was getting comfortable and feeling so uplifted about virtuous things and such, and loving hanging out with all the girls--I was released! They reorganized the RS presidency in my ward and I've been called to serve as the 2nd counselor over enrichment.

I was only in that YW calling for 2 1/2 months--the shortest time I've ever had a calling! While I'm excited to plan awesome activities to enrich the lives of my fellow sisters I am also sad to not get to be with the young women anymore. Well, the Lord left me with a swell consolation prize: I've been asked by the stake to be the leader of the 3rd year girls at Girls' Camp this summer. Yup, me and twenty-two 14-year-olds in tents for a week. This is gonna be fun.

YW scares me to death. I still go into high school intimidation mode when I'm around teens. I was a Beehive teacher for a couple months, but it didn't go well or last long. Now I'm in RS, which I'm very comfortable with. I don't know why people thing RS is boring. I find it nice to have a peaceful place to go before the craziness of sacrament meeting with children. Anyway, congrats and good luck. If you ever need Enrichment ideas, I'll let you know what we've been up to.

One plus, though--now that you've worked with the YW, you'll be a great help for those who transition in. Especially as YOU plan the activities. You're a generation-gap filler. Er...something like that. I, too, love the addition of Virtue.

you are in such high demand they can't figure out where they want you. I think they needed that virtue value implemented; especially after I see Oprah is recommending that mothers buy their teenage daughters sex toys. Sad world these days.

AHH, camp. Remember all the fun times?? It will be fun, I loved camp. We already had our camp here in Florida 2 wks ago. I think it's weird since it was always in the summer up north but it's way too hot for camping here in June, so they do it over spring break. RS should be fun. I haven't been in RS forever. I'm the Primary President in our ward AHHHHH!!! Someday's are rewarding while others I wonder did anyone hear anything today :) !!!

I've worked with the young women in my last ward. While they were excessively chatty, I did enjoy being with them. Good luck with your new calling.

That was quick! That is too bad that you couldn't stay in longer. I liked YW and I had great friends in there. At least you get to go to camp!LOL!

Wow - just when you were starting to get somewhat comfortable. That's just the way it works, isn't it? You'll love Enrichment!

You will be great wherever you are called, and I know your ward loves having you. If I were the president, I would call you as my counselor in a heart beat.
